Find your swap
Do you hold my funds?
Not for swaps through a swap network: your funds go through it to the address you choose. Swaps to Monero (XMR) and CoinJoin orders are the exceptions: they go through our own wallets, which hold your coins until you have been paid, so we see both sides of those orders. We never ask for your private keys or recovery phrase.
What can others see about my swap?
More than you might think. Chainflip publicly records every swap’s deposit, receiving and refund addresses, the amounts, and that the swap came through our broker, so anyone can link what you sent to what you received. On Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and Tron every payment is public; only Monero hides the sender, the receiver and the amount. Use a new address for every swap, and receive Monero (XMR) when privacy matters. A block explorer sees the IP address of whoever opens it, so your swap’s page shows transaction IDs to copy rather than links.
Can I swap Monero (XMR)?
You can receive it, when our XMR desk is on: choose XMR as the coin you get. Monero hides the sender, the receiver and the amount of every payment, so it is the private way to receive. Our desk holds your deposit and, once it is confirmed, buys your XMR with it from an independent seller on eigenwallet’s network at the seller’s price; the seller’s XMR is sent to your address. If a seller fails, your order waits while another seller is tried, and nothing is refunded automatically: while it waits, you can ask for your deposit back on your order’s page. From a coin other than bitcoin, Chainflip first swaps it into bitcoin for the desk. Monero cannot be sold here.
What is CoinJoin?
One bitcoin transaction in which many people’s coins are mixed, which makes it harder to tell which coins were whose. Choose CoinJoin on the swap card (bitcoin in, mixed bitcoin out) or Swap + CoinJoin (any coin in and out, for example ether to Monero): our own Wasabi wallet mixes your bitcoin, then pays each of your addresses, up to eight, at the delay you choose. A CoinJoin does not hide your coins from us (we hold them until each address is paid), from anyone who seizes our servers, from matching of amounts and times, or from an explorer asked about both transactions; for privacy against everyone, receive Monero (XMR). The fee is shown before you confirm, and each step of an order has its own ID and tracking page.
How long does a swap take?
Most swaps finish in 10 to 30 minutes. The estimate on the swap screen comes from the network that runs your swap, and the tracking page shows each step live.
What does the total cost include?
Network fees, the swap network fee and our service fee. The total is shown in dollars and as a percentage before you confirm; tap it to see the breakdown. If you leave the amount empty, the fees are shown as a share of what arrives plus the network fees, which do not depend on the amount.
What if I send a different amount?
If you entered an amount, send exactly that: a different amount changes what you receive, and the tracking page explains what happens next. If you left the amount empty, any amount in the range shown is fine. Below the range a deposit can come back to you or, below the network’s own minimum, be lost; above it, it can come back or take longer to pay out. The deposit page gives the numbers.
Do I need to know the exact amount?
No, when you send from any wallet (“Any wallet”): leave the amount empty and the swap card shows the range your swap takes now, for example 0.0006 to 3 BTC. Send any amount in it, in one transaction: we take our fee and the network fees from what arrives and send you the rest at the price when it swaps. Your swap’s page then shows what arrived and about what you will receive, and the deposit page says what happens outside the range. With a connected wallet, which some pairs need, enter the amount: the wallet sends exactly that.
What if a swap fails?
If the swap network cannot swap your deposit, your funds are returned to the refund address you entered, and the tracking page shows the refund transaction once it is sent. Orders to Monero (XMR) are the exception: if a seller fails, your order waits while our desk buys from another seller, and your deposit goes back only when you ask for it on your order’s page.
Do I need an account?
No, there are no accounts. Every swap has its own swap ID, which opens its page on any device, so keep it private. The swaps you start or open are listed under Activity, in your browser only, where you can also have your browser forget everything this site keeps in it.
How do I reach support?
Open Support at the top of any page and write to us; if it is about a swap, choose it or enter its swap ID. We answer in the same chat. Your conversations are kept with a random ID in this browser’s cookies, so come back in the same browser. We never ask for your recovery phrase, your keys or a payment.
